چکیده

Earlier works have revealed increased generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and decreased antioxidant levels in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The current study aimed to investigate the effect mixed insulin therapy on oxidative stress status patients with T1DM. This involved 75 participants who were divided into three groups: 20 healthy subjects as a control, 25 newly diagnosed T1DM (without treatment) 30 treated (regular Human Neutral Protamine Hagedorn (NPH)) twice daily. Fasting serum glucose (FSG), concentrations insulin, malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase (CAT), reduced glutathione (GSH), vitamins (C E) measured all participants. Compared MDA observed be significantly higher, while lower CAT, GSH, found both untreated diabetic groups. Although caused significant decrease blood sugar marked elevation GSH vitamin E compared patients, changes C between groups not significant. Moreover, level resistance was insulin-treated control In conclusion, daily treatment regular NPH can ameliorate hyperglycemia improve However, regimen used this did reveal beneficial resistance. Hence, exogenous antioxidants (vitamins combination these parameters.
